The 9th AUN/SEED-Net Regional Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (RCEEE 2016) organized by HUST

On November 17&18, 2016, Hanoi University of Science and Technology successfully organized The 9th AUN/SEED-Net Regional Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering –RCEEE 2016 at Ta Quang Buu Library Building with the participation of 200 researchers, lecturers and representatives from outstanding international and domestic academic – research institutions and industries. The conference aimed at creating a platform to share the most updated technology and research of regional common issues in Electrical and Electronics Engineering field. AUN/SEED-Net project, JICA – Japan is the main support of this event.

Addressing at the Opening Ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Minh Son – HUST’s President expressed the University’s pleasure to be appointed as the organizer for this event and this was one of the serial events celebrating the 60 years foundation of the University.  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Minh Son also emphasized that “HUST strongly believes that with open discussions and presentations on the practices Electrical and Electronics Engineering, the Conference will open a new development stage for the development and cooperation at university level between Hanoi University of Science and Technology and AUN/SEED-Net university members in general and for the a closer sharing and understanding among the scientists and researchers attending the Conference in particular”.

Dr. Nguyen Huy Phuong – Dean of School of Electrical Engineering, HUST, Chair of the RCEEE 2016 published that within 120 submitted full papers, the Organization and Scientific Committees has reviewed, selected and published 83 high-qualified ones.

Among these 83 high-qualified full papers, there will be 30% of papers to be considered for publishing in the high ranking ASEAN Engineering Journal, presenting from Mr. Iwadate Hiroshi – Project Coordinator, Research and Network Promotion Unit, JICA Project Office for AUN/SEED-Net.  RCEEE 2016 included 4 Parallel Sessions with 60 Oral reports and a poster session with 23 researching works in related areas. In the conference, researchers focused on sharing scientific knowledge and achievements on four main themes in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering fields, namely: Electric Power Systems, Electrical Equipment and Control, Measurement and Sensors, Communication Networks and Signal Processing. Various research results in both theory and practice with numerous scientific and practical contributions were presented by globally recognized scientists. In addition, participants from big industrial partners brought fruitful introduction as well as up-to-date innovation and technology trend to apply the Electrical and Electronics accomplishments in a variety of disciplines involving sustainable energy, telecommunication systems, computer networks, IoT, transportation, image processing, speech synthesis, etc. The purpose of the conference also holds the great efforts in exchanging practical experiences on technological transfer, creativity and enhancement in product and service types that are currently exploited throughout the world.

The Conference has successfully maximized the outreach of the AUN/SEED-Net Network for stronger impacts by involving external participants, including representatives from the industry, community, non-MIs, and other professional organizations.

In the period of 5-9 December 2016 in Vietnam, the European – ASEAN Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET) in collaboration with the Austrian Embassy in Hanoi held “Austrian – Vietnamese ASEA-UNINET Days in Vietnam” as one of the commemorative activities towards the 45th Anniversary of the establishment of Austrian – Vietnamese diplomatic relations.

As national coordinating university of ASEA-UNINET in Vietnam, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) hosted the first Austrian – Vietnamese Days with joint seminars and networking activities on joint research and training, graduate & research grants information session as well as alumni meeting on 5-6 December, 2016 at HUST campus.

Presenting at the Opening Ceremony are H.E. Dr. Thomas Loidl, Austrian Ambassador to Vietnam; Uni. Prof. A Min Tjoa – National Coordinator of Asea-Uninet in Austria; Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang – HUST Vice President; Asea-Uninet university coordinators from Austrian Universities and Asea-Uninet member Universities in the northern Vietnam; also many young lecturers and researchers from HUST and other Vietnamese universities and research institutions.

The main objective of “Austrian-Vietnamese ASEA-UNINET Days in Vietnam” is to promote the research collaboration among Vietnamese and Austrian universities and disseminating ASEA-UNINET grants including sandwich grants, PhD grants, Postdoc and short-term research grants to young university staffs in Vietnam.

Addressing at the Opening Ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang said “this is a special event in celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the establishment of Austrian – Vietnamese diplomatic relations and also in a series of activities towards the 60th Founding Anniversary of HUST in 2016”. H.E. Dr. Thomas Loidl emphasized that the Austrian – Vietnamese Diplomatic Relation was established in 1972 and it is excellent and based on mutual trust and friendship: “An important objective for the Austrian Embassy in Hanoi is to strengthen the relations between Vietnam and Austria in all sectors, not only in the political and economic field but also in the important sectors of science, research, technology and education” – he said and highly appreciated the contributions of ASEA-UNINET as well as the initiative of Austrian – Vietnamese Asea-Uninet Days in Vietnam.

Since the establishment in 1994, ASEA-UNINET has been so successful in pursuing its long-range goals and building a durable good image in all the participating countries including Austria and Vietnam. By focusing on supporting and training young researchers and lecturers in university members, ASEA-UNINET has been making great contributions to the higher education capacity building, the advancement of knowledge and solving scientific and social problems in many fields ranging from science, engineering, medicine, pharmacy, biotech to the fields of arts and music… Addressing at the Opening session, Univ. Prof. A Min Tjoa shared: “In the last 3 years, we have had an increasing number of academic cooperation –nearly 70 projects. I very much hope that this event will contribute that in a not too far future we can significantly have many more cooperation projects”.

During one and a half day of the Event at HUST, professors, lecturers and young researchers from Austrian and Vietnamese Universities made presentations to introduce their research areas and joined in separate research groups to exchange mutual interests for future projects and collaborations. The Austrian – Vietnamese ASEA-UNINET Days draw special attentions from young lecturers, researchers and alumni from HUST and other Vietnamese universities with information sessions on all types of Asea-Uninet grants including Follow-up grants specialized for Austrian Alumni.

In the afternoon of December 6th, ASEA-UNINET delegation moved to Da Nang and then Ho Chi Minh City, continuing to organize the networking events in Vietnam until December 09th, 2016.


ASEA-UNINET was established in 1994 in Ho Chi Minh City by 25 universities from Austria, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand (formerly named Austrian – South-East Asian University Partnership Network). In 1997, with the increasing demand of participation of many more universities, the Network was changed into “ASEAN-European Academic University Network”. Currently, ASEA-UNINET has been expanded to more than 80 member universities from 20 countries in Europe and ASEAN (of which 10 from Vietnam and 19 from Austria). HUST is one of the first Vietnamese universities to join in the Network and has always remained its position as national coordinating university of Vietnam.

Main activities of ASEA-UNINET includes: Grant programs (sandwich grants, PhD Grants, Postdoc &short-term research grants; music grants and on-place scholarship); joint research projects; joint lab; exchange staff and students.

In the framework of cooperation in training between Hanoi University of Science and Technology and University of Northampton, Hanoi University of Technology is pleased to announce 2017 enrolment training program Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Northampton degree.

  1. Candidates:

– Vietnam citizens or foreigners residing in Vietnam, graduated from university in Vietnam or abroad are recognized by MOET.

– English proficiency: students are accepted into the first period, if any English proficiency equivalent to European standards as B2 IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 61 / PBT, TOEFL 500 or equivalent.

  1. The mode of admission:University of Northampton and direct profiling interview. For candidates without English certification standards will have to participate in Pre-MBA preparatory courses and take tests on their English.
  2. Training programs and qualifications:Training in 18 months at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology under the program of the University of Northampton in 3 semesters. The program is taught in English by faculty from the University of Northampton and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Students who pass the English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.5 continues semester II. Students get a master’s degree from the University of Northampton after graduation.
  3. The training and financial management:Tuition for the entire course is 200,000,000 VND per student / course (two hundred million dong). Tuition fees are collected into 3 period. Tuition can be adjusted, but not exceeding the changing exchange rates stated by the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank).
  4. Admission Profile:Get registration documents at the office of the Institute of International Education to end on15/04/2017 for Spring Term and 15/10/2017 for Fall Term.
